Mini lobster season in Florida is a big deal. Locals know it, the water knows it, and anyone who's ever come home with a full bag of bugs knows exactly why. But catching lobster in the Florida Keys and Key West, Florida isn't just about luck — it's about knowing where they hide, and that's where we come in.

Wrecked Charters runs lobstering trips during both mini season (late July) and the regular season (August on). Captain Austin has been working these waters for years and knows the reefs, ledges, and rocky hideouts that consistently produce. We'll hand you the tickle stick and show you exactly what to do — no experience needed, just bring your appetite.

Frequently Asked Questions

Florida has two lobster seasons. Mini season runs the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday of July — it's two days only and gets wild. Regular season opens August 6th and runs through March 31st. Both seasons are great, but mini season is something special if you've never experienced it. Book early — those dates fill up fast.

Yes — every person who participates in lobstering needs a Florida saltwater fishing license with a crawfish stamp. The good news is they're cheap and easy to get online at the Florida Fish and Wildlife website. Pick yours up before the trip and you're good to go. Captain Austin will check that everyone is licensed before you get in the water.

During mini season, the bag limit is 6 lobster per person per day. During regular season it's also 6 per person per day in most areas outside the Keys. With 6 guests on board, that's up to 36 lobster in a single day — when the spots are good, it's absolutely possible. Captain Austin knows where to find them.

No worries — most of our guests have never chased lobster before and they do just fine. You need to be a comfortable swimmer and able to snorkel in relatively shallow water (usually 10–30 feet). The crew will walk you through the technique before anyone gets in the water. Tickle stick in one hand, net in the other, and the rest you'll figure out pretty quickly once you spot your first lobster waving its antennae at you from under a ledge.
