The perfect summer charter — spend part of the day hunting lobster on the reef and part of the day anchored on a pristine sandbar. It's the most fun you can have on the water during mini-season, and honestly the best combo trip in Key West, Florida. Full bags, cold water, good people. That's the formula.

Captain Austin knows where the lobster are hiding and which sandbars are worth the anchor drop. You'll snorkel the bottom, tickle bugs out from under ledges, fill your bags, then kick back in crystal-clear water with nothing on the agenda. This trip books fast during lobster season — grab your dates early.

Frequently Asked Questions

Florida spiny lobster has a mini-season (two days) in late July, followed by the regular season running August 6 through March 31. This combo trip is most popular during mini-season and the early weeks of the regular season when lobster are abundant and the weather is still warm enough to enjoy the sandbar in style.

During the regular season, each licensed person can take up to 6 spiny lobster per day. During mini-season the daily limit is 6 per person. Captain Austin knows the current regulations inside and out — we'll keep everyone legal and stoked. You'll need a valid Florida lobster license (or saltwater fishing license with a lobster stamp) for everyone 16 and older.

There's no hard rule — we feel it out. Usually we spend the first chunk of the day lobstering (while everyone's fresh and the reefs are less crowded) and the second half anchored on the sandbar. If the lobster are on fire, we keep going. If the sandbar is calling, we answer. This is a private charter, so the schedule is yours.

Yes — this is one of the best family trips we offer. Kids love chasing lobster on the reef (under direct supervision), and the sandbar gives younger guests a safe, shallow place to swim and play. Snorkel gear is included for everyone. Just note that lobster licenses are required for anyone 16 and up who participates in harvesting.
